Can Juventus become title contenders in January?

Italian media are examining the strategies behind Juventus’ comeback and how they can challenge for the Serie A title in January after they won their last six games while scoring 12 goals and allowing none.

The Bianconeri had a terrible start to the year, winning just three of their first nine games, and for the first time since 2013, they were facing Champions League group stage elimination.

However, they have risen in the rankings as a result of six straight victories in which they have scored 12 goals while allowing none, thus exciting fans who have continued to stick by the team and have looked out for the Juventus live scores each time they are on the field.

After a 2-0 defeat to Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League, players were sent on a training retreat, and those days helped Allegri solidify his ideas and unify the team.

The Bianconeri sealed a 1-0 win in the Turin derby and have gone on to win the following five in Serie A, losing to Benfica and PSG in the Champions League.

Allegri has made a significant tactical adjustment, switching to a three-man defence that has strengthened Juventus and allowed some of the new additions, like Filip Kostic and Gleison Bremer, to flourish in a friendlier tactical setting.

Last but not least, the Italian coach has given Nicol Fagioli, an academy product who had trouble getting playing time in the first two months, a chance. With two goals in nine games, the rising star from Italy has received his first call-up to the national team.

Despite their stellar performances, Juventus is still 10 points back of table-toppers Napoli, whom they will face on January 13 at the Stadio Maradona.

It will be a crucial month for the Bianconeri who, as noted by Gazzetta, could rely on Federico Chiesa full-time after his full recovery from a knee injury and will probably see Paul Pogba return to action.

After making only 10 appearances in the first half of the season and logging only about 400 minutes on the field, Angel Di Maria is also anticipated to contribute more consistently.

It is obvious that the Bianconeri must lose to Napoli in order to maintain their Scudetto hopes. The Partenopei are the only unbeaten team in Serie A and have been virtually unbeatable this year.

Luciano Spalletti’s side will face Inter, Juventus and Roma in January, plus Salernitana and Sampdoria, while the Old Lady will meet Cremonese, Udinese, Atalanta, Monza and the Partenopei when the season resumes in January.
