Massimiliano Allegri has insisted he will not rush Paul Pogba back from injury with Juventus receiving two major fitness boosts.
The head coach of Juventus got good news on Pogba’s fitness and that of fellow long-term absentee Federico Chiesa, who is ramping up his comeback from a cruciate ligament injury by playing in a friendly game.
Allegri, on the other hand, was certain that no one would be hurried back into his team.
“Paul has done some things with the team, and let’s not forget that he hasn’t done any serious training since 23 July,” he told reporters. “We need to give him time. Rushing to get him back one game early and jeopardising all the work would be pure madness.”
Pogba’s comeback to Turin was quickly derailed by injury.
He tore his meniscus in July and has been forced to sit out while Juventus have had a difficult start to the season, putting his World Cup chances in jeopardy.
He appears to be on his way back, which would greatly benefit the Old Lady.
The World Cup is officially less than a month away, which means the 29-year-old needs to get a move on if he wants to make a comeback and sharpen up in time for the event.
